When the world was at home, the dealers were too. But that didn’t stop VW innovating to keep the wheels turning.

To keep Volkswagen operational during the COVID lockdown, Tribal was tasked with delivering a new e-commerce solution that would make buying a Volkswagen as easy as next week’s food order. The only challenge, the doors were already closed, and without an online store, no cars would leave the floors of the store. So we, with our partners Katzion set about devising a platform that would not only solve this problem for VW, but solve it quickly.

We had to completely re-engineered the VW sales process from physical to digital for the first time, which meant we had to solve a ton of challenges that had gone unsolved for decades. How do I pay online? What if I change my mind? How can I see the car up close and in detail?

DELIVERY, AT THE SPEED OF THOUGHT

The new site gave consumers the power to choose their perfect car by making the entire range available online through the virtual showroom. Users could order online by paying a deposit and enter a nurture program, receiving up-to-date delivery timelines and Volkswagen owner benefits and offers. They even had the opportunity to receive a digital trade valuation on their existing vehicle.

The kicker, we delivered in record time. 11 days. From not selling anything online, to our very first sale.
